After discussing the Parts of Speech with your students, this assignment works well.

First, using numbers, or colors, establish small groups of 2-3 students, with defined roles of normed expectations (as set be the students).
Secondly, utilizing student input, have them set the scoring guide (with your guidance), for grading the information.
Third, show them an example of a finished product (you may create one on your own, or use an example shared here).

Objective: Students are then responsible for utilizing the Flip Cam's to record "Parts of Speech" in action around the building. Some of the video taping will be them recording themselves, and other will be them catching Parts of Speech, on the fly.

The students then work as a group to create a presentation, of the Parts of Speech. They need to load the video on the computer and utilized iMovie, Podcast, or Quicktime (or other acceptable web-based, or software program), to create their presentation. Usually takes about a week to 8 days, to complete filming, creating, and editing of the final product.

Once students have completed the presentation, have them do a "Constructive Criticism Gallery Walk." Have several computers set up together where students can have the final products ready to play, and students walk around an view each others projects and leave "post-it" notes of what was liked, what they may need to include to make presentation more factual, attractive, or informative.

Once Gallery Walk (peer editing is complete) allows students a day or two to make changes: (additional Flip Cam footage, or any modifications that need to be completed).
Comments
This lesson may be modified or chunked to complete only Nouns, or Adjectives, or Verbs. Chunking information great for Sped students, as well.
