School: Model High School, Rome, GA
Planned By: Tema Hoskins
Original Author: Tema Hoskins, Rome
Big Idea: Ecosystems
EQ: What goes on in our Micro World?
GA STANDARD: THE INTERDEPENDENCE OF ORGANISMS
• Human beings live within the world's ecosystems. Increasingly, humans modify ecosystems as a
result of population growth, technology, and consumption. Human destruction of habitats through
direct harvesting, pollution, atmospheric changes, and other factors is threatening current global
stability, and if not addressed, ecosystems will be irreversibly affected

Intro: Students will do research on an assigned topic from the standards (example technology, harvesting, or atmosphere).

Assignment #1: Students will submit in groups of 4 a 700 word public service announcement detailing the effects of their topic choice on the micr-world. Students will need to stay factual and are allowed creative interpretative to introduce humor and spontaneity to their public services announcement.

Assignment #2- students will video tape, on a green screen, their public service announcement. Each student will need to assume roles ( ex: a scientist, a reporter, a specialist) and create a creative interpretation that is both accurate and entertaining.

Assignment #3- students will use specializes software to inlay their video on top of the green screen to incorporate images and field trip video footage to get the effect on being "on site".

Students will be per graded and also instructor grades based on a mufti faceted rubric.
Comments
We need the cameras to do the recording. Currently our High School does not have a single camera or recorder.
