School: Vandercook Lake Jr Sr High Sch, Jackson, MI
Planned By: Gerald Williams
Original Author: Gerald Williams, Jackson
Students will be exposed to several different musical styles and composers. Students will then research several different composers from different genre's of music and compose a "short history" (English composition skills) of that composer as well as what was going on socially (history/social studies) in the world at that period in time.

Students will use an IPad and free notation software to compose a short piece (approximately 24-32 measures) in the style of a composer and genre from a pre-selected list.

Students will perform their compositions for the class, and possibly, at a concert.
Comments
Once the IPads become available to my students, the possibilities are endless of how they will be used in class. Students already use Collaborize Classroom, Remind 101, our own class website, and other web based learning opportunities. This will open so many more doors for them.
