ACTIVITY-SMALL LEVELED READING GROUP.. I AM WORKING FOR CHARTS..
MATERIALS- FUNCTIONAL LANGUAGE ARTS BINDER/BOOKS, MARKERS, CHIPS, I AM WORKING FOR CARDS, TABLE, CHAIRS

TIME- 20 MINUTES

INTERVENTION SPECIALIST AND PARA PROFESSIONAL

ACTIVITY/OBJECTIVE:
STUDENTS WILL WORK IN A SMALL LEVELED READING GROUP TO DETERMINE THE CORRECT ANSWERS ON SPECIFIC DETAILS. STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE A FIVE PAGE BOOKLET TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND USE A STRUCTURED REWARD SYSTEM THAT USES THE I AM WORKING FOR CHARTS....THE OBJECTIVE OF THE CHART IS TO INCREASE STRUCTURE, PREDICTABILITY, AND TRANSITION;, WHILE DECREASING TEMPER TANTRUMS DURING READING GROUP.

1.) ACTIVITY 1- STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE THE CORRECT ANSWERS TO DETERMINE CORRECT DAY OF THE WEEK USING VISUAL CHARTS. IF THE ANSWER IS CORRECT THEN THE STUDENT MAY WRITE IT INSIDE OF THEIR BINDER, AND THEN PLACE ONE CHIP ON THE I AM WORKING FOR BOARD.


2.) ACTIVITY 2- STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE THE CORRECT ANSWER TO DETERMINE CORRECT MONTH OF THE YEAR. IF THE ANSWER IS CORRECT THEN THE STUDENT MAY WRITE OUT THE MONTH, AND PLACE ONE CHIP ON THE I AM WORKING FOR BOARD.


3.) ACTIVITY 3-STUDENTS WILL CHOOSE THE CORRECT ANSWERS FOR THE CLOTHING THAT THEY WORE TO SCHOOL. CLOTHING THAT WAS NOT WORN SHOULD BE CROSSED OUT. THE ITEMS THAT ARE WORN TO SCHOOL SHOULD BE WRITTEN OUT AND CIRCLED. A CHIP SHOULD BE PLACED ON THE I AM WORKING FOR BOARD.

4). ACTIVITY 4- STUDENTS WILL DETERMINE EIGHT CORRECT WEATHER WORDS FOR THE CURRENT DAY. ONCE CORRECT WORDS ARE SELECTED THE STUDENTS PLACES THE CORRECT WORDS ON THEIR BINDER. ONE CHIP IS THEN PLACED ON THE I AM WORKING FOR BOARD.

5.) ACTIVITY 5-STUDENTS WILL USE FUNCTIONAL WORKBOOKS TO MAKE ALL SELECTIONS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS. WHEN A COMPLETED I AM WORKING FOR CHART HAS FIVE CHIPS STUDENTS MAY MAKE A HIGH PREFERENCE AGE APPROPRIATE CHOICE.

ASSESSMENTS ARE BASED ON TEACHER OBSERVATIONS, REVIEW, ABILITY TO RECALL, AND WRITING SAMPLES, STUDY GUIDE.


STUDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY FOR 10 MINUTES ON A SELECTED CHOICE. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF INDEPENDENT WORK. STUDENTS ARE ASKED TO MEET BACK AT THE TABLE WITH THE TEACHER TO WORK ON LANGUAGE ARTS CENTERS, BINGO GAMES, AND REVIEW PRIOR KNOWLEDGE USING THEIR STUDY GUIDE BINDER FOR SMALL LEVELED READING GROUP.

STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN DISCUSSIONS USING I-PADS THAT FOCUSES ON, FOLLOWING RULES OF CONVERSATION, APPROPRIATE DISCUSSION ABOUT A TOPIC OR COMPLETING SENTENCES DURING WRITING AND SPEAKING.
