Title of Lesson: 1st qtr dialogue practicing preterite verb tense/Vocab practice “cabezas arriba” Grade/Subject: Spanish 201/202
Time: 4th hour
Objective(s):
Students will identify and recall multiple verb meanings and use vocabulary in L2.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of how to conjugate infinitive verbs and use them in natural, conversational dialogues (using multiple verb tenses-specifically Preterite (past) tense)
Students will collaborate and work together to create dialogues/skits that tell a story.
Students will compose a natural, conversational dialogue, using the correct form of the conjugated verbs and relevant vocabulary in L2.
Students will converse with partners and peers and present their conversations in front of the class.
Students will describe L2 vocabulary words to student listening.
Students will synthesize information given to them from peers to identify vocabulary words.
Hook / Setting the Stage: (Introductory activity)
On Friday of last week, students were given the project specifics and rubric. They have worked in partners and prepared a dialogue where they assume roles and chose a scenario to create/act-out. Students will present their conversations in front of the class. The goal is for students to collaborate, create and produce a real-life conversation, while having fun and utilizing logical vocab and focusing on using the preterite tense. Students will warm up with a brief Quizlet Live game.
Materials:
Students were given a scenario/prompt rubric and time to produce a dialogue/skit. Students may also use classroom materials to create a scene/state setting.
ITV and google doc with large vocabulary words from Chapter 1 displayed for “Heads Up” game. Cell phones or ChromeBooks and classroom ITV.
Lesson Activities:

Students will access Quizlet.com, input the code created, and be placed on teams where they must communicate and collaborate to answer questions that reinforce the preterite tense.
Students will present their skits in front of the class. Other class members will listen and watch respectfully. 3.
Students will play “Cabezas Arriba” or “Heads Up”. Class will be divided into two teams. Each student will take a turn in front of the class and try to guess what vocabulary word is being described to them. Student will roll a dice. Even # will have team #1 communicate. Odd # will have team #2 communicate. A point will be awarded for every word correctly guessed.
Assessment / Evaluation:
Students will receive a score on the rubric they were given.
Students earn weekly participation points by engaging in L2, they are expected to be engaged and respectful during all class activities.
