Most art teachers know that when it comes to stocking an art classroom, you have got to stick with the basics! While most art students are asked to pay a small art fee, the reality is that many families in Pearl River cannot afford it. Half of our school population takes advantage of free and reduced lunch. The small amount of money the art fees bring in must go to restocking color pencils, paper, paint, and other crucial art supplies. While this is enough to do some great projects, having additional resources to open up these students to the wonderful contemporary art world would be a game changer! With this fundraiser I hope to raise enough money to purchase a classroom subscription to Scholastic Art Magazine for my high school students. Being able to view other student work from all over the world, cross curricular articles, and discover contemporary artists and styles would really open up my students to a world of art and creativity that simply isn't found in the textbooks. Help inspire a generation of artists!
