I am in need of a SmartBoard & Active Slate. By having these pieces of technology in my classroom students will be a part of classroom that is more interactive. I will have the ability to have visual-pictures, video clips as well as auditory clips--students can hands-on manipulate information and search for answers--students can create their own presentations...this combination helps teachers teach to "all" their students' learning styles, daily.
• As I am planning my lesson, I am more aware of the visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles and try to vary my format to match the needs of my students.
• I am always doing different types of lessons; this gives me so much flexibility while using the smart board.
• All learners can be involved. Which is my primary reason for wanting the Smart Board in my classroom.
• The class is very on-task, motivated and engaged! Which cuts down on classroom discipline issues.
• As the teacher, I make a point of getting every student up to the SmartBoard to actively take part in the lesson. Previously, with whole group instruction, the rest of the class would get restless and lose focus, but with the SmartBoard, they stay engaged and patiently wait their turn.

• You are able to meet a variety of learning styles and actively engage students by designing a myriad of lessons with endless variations.

• The board gives me the students’ attention long enough to explain what they are going to do. When I am done I am able to send them off to get the work done. I have found that using the board has increased student interest at the beginning of a lesson. This has carried over to the project in a positive way.

• My students are more engaged in the lesson when I use the SmartBoard

• When I teach with an interactive lesson on the SmartBoard more of the kids are engaged in the lesson than when it isn't interactive.

• Absolutely. It engages every learning style and allows for many opportunities to use their strengths and work on areas that need improvement.
