Letcher Elementary School is located in the Appalachian Mountains region of Southeast Kentucky. LES houses approximately 400 students in a K-5 setting. Our school currently has a 42% population of special needs students. LES also has a 80% population of free and reduced lunch. The technology that we currently have is extremely outdated to the point that most of the computers will not start up. I am starting this fundraiser in hopes of gaining technology for our students to use. We have several teachers and classes which do not have a single computer. Research has shown that gains will be made if students have access and are exposed to technology. By your donation and gifts, we will be able to expose these students to modern technology. The majority of our students do not have a computer or internet access at home. Our technology department is awarded each year with $50,000. However, our currently yearly debt for virus protection, Infinite Campus, CITTS, ect accumulate to $85,000. We are always in a large deficit. Therefore, we have not had technology in over 8 years. Please help our students to have the same opportunity to be successful that other schools currently have.
