An overheating computer lab is neither benefit for students to learn computer skills, nor extend the life spam of desktop computers. Imaging 35 computers in a lab with the old CRT monitors, how much heat is generated and how much electricity is wasted?

Most students at my school are coming from low-income families. It is an urban school located at the heart of Chinatown serving Asian, mostly Chinese, African American, and Caucasian students. The student characters are hard working and eager to learn. They are aware of the importance of learning technology, but due to the socioeconomic status of their family, most of them could not afford computers at home for practicing, so the school becomes the most important place to learn such skill. Students from kindergarten to 8th grade all have chances to access computer lab to learn various computer skills from basic typing to complex computer programming. Despite their hardship, they do their best to involve extra study in computer club to study robotic and creating websites. Unfortunately, due to the budget, the school computer system is in need of a major upgrade. Nevertheless, it did not stop them from learning computer knowledge.

The major problem in the computer lab now is over-crowded work space, especially with the old CRT monitors facing back to back, not only they generate lots of heat, but also using a large amount of electricity. Many computer programs require higher resolutions to display students' products more vividly. Unfortunately, the CRT cannot perform such demands in an accurate colors to reflect students' true progress in their projects. On top of it, the CRT monitors are polluting air quality in the computer lab, so sometimes even with the air conditioning on, the computer lab remains hot, and the students coming in and out of the lab need to adjust the temperatures changed. Most importantly, the CRT monitor is heavy and occupied larger space. If we can replace the CRT monitors with flat screen monitors, the students will have a better computer lab environment to work with their projects.

The requested 35 flat screen monitors will replace the old CRT monitors to environmental friendly flat screen monitors. The students will be able to view their products in a better resolution with vivid display. In additions, the computer lab will not be so hot due to the heat generated by the CRT monitors. The overall air quality will be better for the students' health. The school can also benefit from saving electricity bill. The students will also gain more space to work by removing the CRT monitors. « hide

My students need 35 flat screen monitors to replace the current CRT monitors to protect the environment and save more space to work on their projects.
