Chicago's recent budget reduction is a threat to our school's recent implementation of project-based learning (PBL). PBL was introduced in our school last year to turn the tide for students who showed difficulties transferring and applying their learning. We have seen great strides for our students in our first year of PBL, and we want to make sure we build on this momentum. My classroom would benefit from a pair of Macbooks that would allow students to apply what they've learned to create meaningful real-world products. We are dedicated to taking students who often come to us feeling unable to perform well academically and transforming them into future technology leaders by giving them real-world problems to solve and an audience outside of the school for which their products are made. Without the proper tools, this transformation seems inauthentic and puts our students back at square one.
