Teaching "on the cart" has unique challenges that require a high level of organization from the teacher on-the-go. An iPad dedicated to the orchestra program would greatly increase organization and efficiency with on-the-go access to lesson plans, recordings, presentation slides, rosters, gradebooks, instrument inventory, parent communications, music library catalog, etc. Transitions between classrooms would be more seamless with the ability to connect to all three Mac computers used for teaching on a daily basis with tools such as Splashtop. An iPad would also greatly benefit orchestra students through the use of a myriad of applications such as Noteflight where students can do music notation and ear training exercises. I believe this small but mighty piece of technology can help take the Thompkins Middle School orchestra program to the next level of excellence!
