How many of you have heard, "school is boring" or "we never learn anything fun". To go further, how many adults do you know who hate their jobs? Do we really want a nation filled with adults who go through the motions in the workplace everyday unfulfilled? It is time for our schools to create happy adults who are contributing members of our 21st century society. To do this, I am planning to create a student-centered, inquiry-based classroom. My students will brainstorm, investigate, research, and create their own learning. They will discover what they are passionate about and have a true purpose for coming to school each day. They will not be playing the "get a good grade game" - they will actually be engaged in topics that will benefit the community and create autonomy and mastery of skills needed in our present world. For this to happen, our classroom needs technology available to them for collaboration and problem-solving. As little as $20 will help our school purchase the devices needed for our students to enjoy school and become the learners and thinkers I know they are within themselves.
