Hello,
My name is Katie Ahearn and I work in a public elementary school. I currently teach third grade and work in the 14th lowest scoring Florida school. My school is over 90% free and reduced lunch, which means almost every student in our school lives in poverty. I have been teaching for four years now and every year I have maintained the highly effective teacher status. I have also taught at the most needy two schools in the eight largest school district in America. I am faced with helping turnaround our school and in order to do that I am requesting 24 laptops (that is how many students will be in my classroom) in order to help me close the achievement gap, through a 1-1 student to computer ratio. If 24 is too many 12 will be manageable to have two students share and cooperate with one another. Please help me with my quest to have all my students be proficient and higher in third grade.
