Rio San Gabriel Elementary School is pleased to present this proposal for your review. We look forward to partnering with you to provide a technology rich learning environment for our students in the Social Behavior Communication classrooms. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurological developmental disorder that impacts the way a child interacts with his or her environment. According to the CDC, autism affects 1 in 68 children in the United States. Rio San Gabriel has two 1st through 5th grade special education classrooms designed for learners with autism that support their social, behavior, and communication needs. Students with autism often struggle to access their learning environment when using only traditional teaching methods. Their patterns of learning require structured teaching, visually stimulating supports, and immediate feedback. We are challenged as educators to develop engaging and interactive ways to help our students access the curriculum.
Your support will help students tap into their true potential and give educators the tools they need to promote student success. Our goal is to integrate technology into our classrooms through the use of an Interactive White Board. This system fosters a truly interactive learning experience. Technology provides opportunities to present individualized curriculum, apply hands on learning, and give immediate feedback to students. Our proposal requires $6,000 in funding to obtain the Interactive White Board, projector, software, and training necessary.
