Computer science is a top paying college degree. Jobs in this field are growing at 2 times the national average, yet the number of students entering this field is declining. One of the reasons is that 9 out of 10 schools, including ours, do not offer computer programming classes.
We do, however, have a unique class entitled Independent Study in Technology Applications. Through this class, students can learn some programming skills. The main obstacle is access to devices and software to capitalize on the potential for this class to allow coding opportunities. This fundraiser would enable us to purchase these items specifically to aid in creating coding instruction opportunities for students.
