This is an amazing way to get to know your students. This lesson can be taught both in the classroom and outside of the classroom. First, it's important to teach the kids about the technology they are using (the type of camera) and how it works. You can also talk about different types of photography (action, still, low light) or different photographers.

Next, Pick a subject. Let's say you pick school spirit. Ask them to think about your school and what comes to mind. Is it the playground, a teacher, the principal, or maybe a garden?

Now, go out and shoot some pictures! You could also give this as homework. I find that outside of a group, you will get much more creative photos.

When it comes time to review the photos, remember to give positive feedback. In my opinion, there is no such thing as a bad photo. If your class is older, this is a great time to talk about compostion, form, lighting, et...

Get each student to pick their favorite photo & get them printed. Now you're ready for an art show!
