I would love to get some GPSs, some digital cameras (still and movie), yearbook editing software (Adobe In Design), a document camera, Lego Robotics kits
My Philosophy:
My students are the 21st century digital natives - they are exposed to digital equipment daily. I need to be using it in my classroom to engage them. I'd like to get robotics in the hands of my kids, especially the girls who at this age are willing to try engineering and if they like it now will be more willing to keep with it in the higher levels. My kids need to learn by touching and feeling and doing.
Personal Information:
About Me:
I was born and raised in Houston, went to school at Texas A & M and then moved to Huntsville Alabama. I was a computer programmer for Intergraph. I developed software for Mechanical Engineering firms who used our 3-D software to design everything from Igloos to tennis shoes. I then moved to Houston where I was the support team for these products. My customers were from the Rockies to the Mississippi, Canada to Mexico. It was very interesting but I traveled 80% of the time. When I got pregnant the company still wanted me to travel as much. I quit my job to stay home with my daughter who was then followed by another. I stayed out of the working world for 15 years. I am now back teaching K-5 children, technology. I love the excitement they have for my class and the potential I have to get them ready for their future in higher level education.

I love gardening, volleyball, watching my kids play soccer and doing things with my family. I've been PTA president, leader of my church family group...

Why Do I Teach?:
I had always thought about teaching High School. I thought this part-time job would help me decide if this was my calling. But after I got the hugs and praise from the little ones, I knew this was the place for me! Seeing a kid's self esteem rise because they can do something well on the computer is AWESOME!
