I am a 6th grade literature teacher who utilizes technology to enhance student learning. I am raising money to purchase Apple iPads for my classroom. I teach 5 literature classes, each class consisting of approximately 25 students. We have two desktop computers in our classroom (one for teacher use and one for student use). Using iPads in the classroom will assist in student achievement. Not only will the iPads motivate low achieving, special education, and ELL students, but iPads will also enrich high achieving students. Students will be able to embrace language arts through digital tools. Students will use language arts apps to reinforce skills taught in class. Students will be able to access our class pages (blog, wiki, edmodo) using the iPads. Students will be able to use programs such as Study Island to prepare for NJASK State Testing. ELL students will use programs such as Reading Eggs to learn the English language. There are hundreds of apps available to assist student learning. Students will be able to use Prezi, Glogster, Quizlet, and more to assist their learning! iPads will help our students become 21st century learners as they embrace technology!
