Step 1: Teach the parts of speech you want students to be able to identify and capture in photos.

Step 2: In partners have students hunt around the school/playground using a camera to capture their ABC grammar (either assign pairs one letter, or have them capture a picture for each letter of the alphabet). Teachers can easily differentiate this lesson to make it more or less elaborate. Students could simply capture one word objects - or write complete sentences about each photo identifying all of the parts of speech. Example: Letter B = Take a picture of somebody playing baseball. When they add the sentences to their slideshow, they could write: The boy swung and missed the ball. Students would then BOLD the B words. Below the sentence they would identify the nouns and verbs. You could add adjectives, articles, adverbs, etc. if you wanted. You could also have them just write one word to make it simpler.

Step 3: Students can create a power point slide of what they found. Teachers can decide if the pairs of students can create the entire power point or just one letter of the alphabet, and make a class powerpoint. Each pair would make two slides per letter. The first slide would only have the picture. The second slide would have the word/sentence the students came up with to match the slides. This will allow for the interactive game later.

Step 4: Teacher could combine the slides to make an ABC slideshow (if making a class powepoint) and present the slideshow to the class, or have pairs of students present their slideshows. They could even play a game to see if the class could identify the correct parts of speech as they went. EGGSPERT would be a great way to make this interactive. Another option would be to post the power point on the teacher's class website for parents to peruse.
