Students worked in groups to research the earth's biomes. Each group chose a different one. Once their research was complete, they wrote a script and chose a background picture of their biome from the internet. Using a "flip" video camera, they filmed themselves in front of a "green screen" reciting their script. Students also brought and used props that pertained to their particular biome (ex: The group reporting from the arctic tundra wore heavy coats with hoods and pretended to be shaking from the cold.) Using Pinnacle Studio software, we edited the video and placed the background in along with sound effects and transitions. The final video looked like the students were actually standing and reporting from that biome. I made these into DVDs for students to take home. The students said that this was their favorite project ever!
