The students will learn and apply through role modeling and practice how to appropriately use a computer. My lesson will teach the following skills:

1) How to handle all computer equipment which will include the mouse, monitor and keyboard. Headphones too.
2) I will teach the students how to do the following:

A) Follow all Computer Rules
B) What programs they cannot change such as the computer homepage and desktop.
C) Why eating and drinking by a computer is a strict rule.
D) What is a firewall and why one cannot access inappropriate websites.

I will have a teacher directed lesson on each component.
The students will then practice through Role Modeling what I have taught
Each component will have a written and practical examination
The Practical Examination will be based on a Rubric that I will develop.
Comments
I have a lab so I have the equipment and most of the materials.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The skills that the students learn will be applied in our Computer Lab. The applied skills will lead to a decrease in broken equipment and an increase in On-task Behavior so the students will have success with their On-Line Class(es).
Follow-Up
The students will model appropriate computer behavior everyday they are in my lab. This will be learning by application.
