Each year, parents volunteer to create the school yearbook. At Tilton, we would like to place the ownership of this special keepsake on that of the students. Using the Mobile Lab, each classroom would have a digital camera. Throughout the course of the year, the students would be able to decide what pictures to take to add to the yearbook. If they were to take a special field trip, have a guest speaker, or create a unique project in the classroom, the cameras would be readily available to snap the photographs.
Each classroom would edit their photographs. As another learning experience, the students in each grade level would work together to decide on captions for each photo. The kindergarten students would dictate their sentences to the teacher. The first grade students would work on correct sentence structure, second grade students would create complete sentences with correct capital letters/ punctuation, third/ fourth/ and fifth grade students would work on the use of nouns/ adjectives and verbs/ adverbs to create enticing captions.
The yearbook project would be integrated into the school's curriculum throughout the course of the year each year. The finished product would be something that each student could take pride in. |

Cross-Curriculum Ideas |
This project could easily be integrated into every subject area including music, gym, and art. It would allow the students that do not have access to technology to gain a deeper understanding of how it works. It would also integrate reading and writing into many of the other content areas. |
