Encouraging Struggling/Reluctant Readers

I currently teach my students in literature circles (small group instruction).

The teacher will use ereaders instead of books in small groups to encourage students to become engaged in reading.

The students will use the ereaders while reading a novel selected by the group.

The teacher will guide the group through the elements of literature and curriculum-based instruction.

The students will participate in literature circle discussions about novels and articles they are reading.

I feel the use of ereaders will improve student involvement, thereby improving comprehension and vocabulary. This will impact not only their reading, but will improve their ability to solve math word problems and understand concepts in science and social studies as well.
