Objective:

Students will take digital pictures of objects, people, activities and happenings in and around their school. They will download the digital pictures to their classroom computer to be shown as a slide show during the technology class. Later, they will write brief descriptions of their pictures and why they chose to take that picture.

Activities:

1. Students will be given a short lecture about taking good quality pictures.
2. Students will be shown how to take pictures using the digital camera.
3. Students will be allowed to go in pairs around the school and take digital pictures of people, events, or objects in the school.
4. When one pair of students return from taking their pictures, another pair will be given the chance to take their pictures.
5. After the pictures are taken, students will be shown how to download their pictures to a picture software program of choice. They can create PowerPoint presentations or similar software.
6. Students will be allowed to view the pictures throughout the day, or during the technology class.
7. After all pictures are viewed as a slide s how, students will be given a chance to speak about their pictures. They will say why they took the picture and discuss picture qualities.
8. Students in the class will be given the chance to discuss the pictures they see.
9. In a creative writing session, students will write a brief description of their picture and the reasons why they took the picture.
Follow-Up
Students can show their slide show presentation to other classes in the school.
