Story: Three Billy Goats Gruff (any story may be used)
*Read the story several times with the class. This does not need to be done all in one day.
*Create stick puppets for the children to color, cut out and glue onto a stick.
(3 goats and 1 troll)
* Children can use these puppets to retell the story to each other.
*Record the children telling the story in small groups. Burn onto a disc to share with families.
*Record the children's voices retelling the story to put at a listeening center.
This activity is really helpful for the ELL children. It not only helps them learn the language but also gives them confidence. Children with learning disabilities or speech and language difficulties may also benefit. |

| This idea can be used at any level for any subject. Science experiments, creating math stories, even at the middle and high school level for creativee writing. The student could read their story while being recorded. seeing yourself read is a great learning tool at any level for any subject area. |
