School: Godfrey T Norman Elem School, Reed City, MI
Planned By: sue rice
Original Author: sue rice, Reed City
Each month, we learn poems and songs to assist us in our learning. At the end of each month we will:

* practice our songs and poems
*video the class reciting or singing
*play back the video for the children
*discuss improvements made and to be made as a group and individually
*at the end of the year; transfer all video so each child has a copy.
Comments
Watching yourself on video at this early age will help boost self confidence and also instill a sense of accountablilty.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
In kindergarten, almost everything I do is across the curriculum. The songs might have to do with science, the FIve Senses. We also learn about math, follow ing words across the page, fluency in our speaking and pronounciation of words.
Follow-Up
Many of the songs and poems are followed up with hands on activities such as art work, puppet making or sequencing activities.
