School: Idaho Falls Sr High School, Idaho Falls, ID
Planned By: Ellen Duncan
Original Author: Ellen Duncan, Idaho Falls
Objectives:
-Integrate reading with technology
-students will gain the knowledge of how to make a book trailer (like a movie trailer only for books)
-students will be proficient in using a Flip Camera (video for book trailer)
-students will have the knowledge to convert video in to various formats using software such as Zamzar
-students will creat their own book trailer using softaware such as Windows Movie Maker, Animoto or Jaycut
-students will organize their pictures, videos, wording, music, etc. into book trailers

Gather book trailers from SchoolTube, TeacherTube and YouTube to play in our library

Run the videos on our flatscreen TV and our digital photo viewer

Advertise a contest and prizes (gift card to local bookstore, Itunes card, etc.) for students to enter in for making the best Book Trailer

Coordinate with the English teachers each Trimester for students to make book trailers on the books they have to read

Display each students' picture along with their book trailers to give them recognition and to keep students interested in making their book trailers

Involve some of the special needs students so they have book trailers on some of the books they have read. The librarians and teachers will help them
Comments
We would really like to run with this program! We see all kinds of potential and involvement foe all types of students.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The drama teacher would like to make some advertisements for their plays.
The economics teacher now has her students making PowerPoint commercials. She is really excited about the idea that she could make real commercials.
The English teachers are excited too, that their students could make movies.
The speech teachers has her studnets do commercials and our current 2 cameras are so old that they take floppy disks!
We would be able to play all of these in the library so the students could share their creations!
Follow-Up
Continue to get students involved in book trailers by offering extra credit, prizes and recognition.
