Students will create virtual tours using techniques and software that incorporate digital media. Students will research the history of Alcatraz and chose a topic to focus on to develop a digital history of the island. Students will present their product by the development of a class website.

Students will give the spectator a firsthand view of what it was like to spend time at "The Rock". Students will be placed in groups and choose an historic topic listed below:

- Alcatraz before the Prison
- "The Rock"
- The "Birdman"
- Prison Life
- Escape Attempts
- Closure of Alcatraz
- "The Indians of all Tribes"

After researching a topic, students will plan the virtual tours for the classroom website. Students will then visit Alcatraz with their cameras and digital recorders to document the trip and develop their Virtual tour.

Development of the Webpages will take approximately 2 weeks and incorporate
