1. Discussion of class on environmental issues that may become a crisis when they are adults.
2. Research on potential topics to film for your commercial
3. Research on necessary hardware, software, parental permissions, etc to create the video. Research the details of TV commercials for example, how long, the costs, what time and day to run, etc.
4. Formation of teams to create a production company: 3-5 students per team
5. Designation of roles, i.e. producer, editor, director, screenwriter, videographer, actor, graphic artist, sound editor
6. Create a corporate name and logo
6. Write the script
7. Scout filming solutions such as locations, graphics, etc.
8. Film the commercial
9. Edit the film, adding graphics, logos, sounds etc.
10. Reshooting or reediting of timing
11. Email commercial video file or place on schooltube account.
12. Corporation to make verbal presentation to class on their commercial and respond to Q & A
Comments
Students will critique their peers and recommend/commend each others' efforts.
The best commercials will be entered in several digital video competitions worldwide.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The Social Studies and Science teachers for each grade will be invited to participate in the researching of subject matter and the writing of the scripts. Their advice will be solicited in scritp discussion, grading and recommendations of shooting locations
