Time: This exercise should take 5 days from Researching to the presentation
Standards: The project meets the requirements of the Massachusetts State Social Studies Frameworks.

Plan: Students will be given the theme and prompt for the project. Then they will be paired up to discuss what Cold War topics they wish to research. No topic can be done twice.

After brainstorming a topic, students are given a lesson on the use of the template and where to store their material when they are finish (i.e. shared folder). After the preview, students begin the research phase of the project. As they find material, they add the graphics and explanations as exhibits into their virtual museum. Students are encouraged to use other functionalities of PowerPoint to their project (i.e. embedding music or movie clips).

When project is completed, the shared folder is loaded on computers in a central room for public viewing.

Grading is based on the rubrics for the following: Technolgy use, collaboration, problem-solving, research, and written communication
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The proposed lesson plan is designed to grow across the curriculum as it could contain ELA (Cold War Literature/Writings of the period/propaganda), Science (military technology), and Fine Arts (Art, photography, music).
Follow-Up
The natural progression and hope is to build a permanant place in our school where students can create a real museum for the Social Studies to exhibit the thematic work of their students.
