Safety: Students will begin by discussing how they keep themselves safe at everyday locations such as the store, or restaurant. * Students will then discuss and create a chart telling all the things they do on the internet. * Teacher will go through the list and find the places where they may be at risk: gamming sites, social media sites, etc... * Teacher will pair students up and have them discuss what each site allows the students to do, thus leveling the understanding of students not on the internet as frequently as their peers. * Teacher will take a quick survey to find out the top two types of internet interactions there are probably gaming and social networking. * Teacher will assign people to create charts showing what is done on these sites. * As a class look at posters to decide how students could be in danger, pointing out especially how they never know who is on the other side of the computer screen. *Utilizing the treasures websites students will learn how to safely limit their searches in order to use the internet for research quickly and efficiently.
Etiquette: Teacher will show and explain the top 10 rules from "Time" magazine Teacher will start a discussion about why these rules are important and relevant to the students. At this time teacher will also talk about citing evidence and giving credit to the publisher or articles and pictures.
