In this inclusive communication lesson, students will use tablets equipped with assistive technology (e.g., TouchChat, Proloquo2Go, or CoughDrop) to complete an “All About Me” activity. The teacher begins by modeling how to use icons or text-to-speech functions to share personal facts. Students then work independently or with support to select or type responses about their name, favorite food, favorite color, and activities they enjoy. For visual reinforcement and creativity, students can use a tool like Book Creator or Canva to pair their responses with images. At the end of the lesson, each student presents their “About Me” summary to the class using their device, promoting confidence and self-expression. The lesson is differentiated through multimodal supports and accommodates students at all levels of communication. This activity aligns with IEP goals related to communication and social interaction and reflects the inclusive use of instructional technology as outlined in your grant proposal.
