Duration: 3 days for each student to take pictures. (For 54 students, getting the images will take approximately 18 days. This could be started at the beginning of the year!)
2-3 class periods in the computer lab working on the Power Point.

Age/Grade: ANY! This could be adapted to any grade level and topic area.

Objectives:
1. Students will be able to use a digital camera to capture images of particular topics.
2. Students will be able to download images to a computer.
3. Students will be able to take digital images and place them into a Power Point presentation.
4. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and ability to use Power Point.

Introduction
The teacher will show a brief Power Point presentation on a similar topic to the one being discussed so students know what the end product will look like.

Model
Before the cameras are sent home-The teacher will model the correct use of the digital camera.

During the use of the cameras-The teacher will model for and instruct students how to create a Power Point presentation including the inserting of digital images from a file.

After all pictures have been taken-The teacher will demonstrate how to upload images to a computer and save them for future use.

Check for knowledge
Throughout the various modeling portions, the teacher should ask students questions to make sure they are paying attention and know the steps and expectations.

Independent Practice/Assignment
Students will create a Power Point presentation using digital images they had each taken. Along with the images, students will add facts about the different types of weather they are presenting.
Students will present their Power Point presentations.

Assessment
Students can be assessed in various ways.
1. Creation of a rubric for a presentation.
2. By classmates.
Comments
This lesson could be done with one camera, but students would be limited to 1 day with the camera to take pictures.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
This lesson idea could be used for book reports, social studies projects, or even math in which students must take pictures and upload to make a presentation.
Follow-Up
Students will take a survey to see what they thought of the activitiy, how it could be changed, and what other topic they could use this lesson idea for.
