Video feedback in Early Learning

Students will participate in early learning situations based on IFSP identified needs. During the situations, parents and/or teachers will be video taped while working on these identified needs. After videotaping, parents and teachers (SLPs) will review the video and discuss the learning opportunities the child experienced. These videos will be valuable teaching tools for parents and teachers (SLPs) while developing new skills with the student and working towards meeting IFSP goals.

For example, a child working on producing one to two word utterances can be videotaped with his/her parent in a structured play situation. During this play situation, the parent/teacher can be utilizing a variety of techniques in order to enhance language development and vocabulary growth. After videotaping, the parent and/or teacher should review the tape together and discuss what worked/what didn't work for their particular student!
