Standards L2.1 W2.2

Part one- After teaching about adjectives and adverbs I would have each child use an iPad to sort adjective and adverbs. I would use the Kahoot app to have each child log in to their profile. Once in they would classify words as either an adjective or an adverb. I would instantly use the results to identify those that need more teaching and those that are proficient in the two types of words. The ones that need more work would use would use their IXL.com account to work on becoming stronger at the task. I would pull smaller groups to classify and help each student on the differences. As they gain a better understanding of the two word types they would move on to part two. The ones that are proficient would move on to part two.

Part two- Each child would choose an animal to research and find information about. They would use a kid friendly search engine that is monitored and set-up through the school district. Each student would learn about the animal. They would come up with adjectives and adverbs that describe the animal. On the iPad they would use a writing app to write about their animal using their adjectives and adverbs. They would get to choose one picture to put add to their writing. They would get to print the writing piece and share it with the class. As an extension for students that get done quickly they would highlight adverbs in green and adjective in yellow.
