Students will be able to successfully research a S.T.E.M. topic and prepare a variety of presentations on it. Initially, the teacher will provide all students a list of S.T.E.M. topics to select from. Teacher prepared rubrics will also be provided to all students. The teacher will review the rubrics and answer any questions the students may have. The teacher will then select the teams with three members per team. Teams will gather together with their team members after the teacher completes a review of the rubrics and documentation required. A review of the terminology will occur at this point and students will be required to take notes.
Each team member will have a role assigned to them by the teacher. One student will be responsible for preparing the PowerPoint Presentation, another will prepare a basic webpage, using HTML, about the topic and the other student will be responsible for typing the report, using Microsoft Word. All students will share in the responsibility for researching the topic and will utilize the tablet to do so. Editing and finalizing the research and related documentation will be a collaboration among the three team members. Team members may also utilize video in their presentations. The presentations will be made to the class by the teams and questions will be allowed at this time. This lesson will allow students to collaborate and research their topic while using technology to compile and document their research.
