Students will be given a month to complete this project.
They will also have a projected timeline that lists when each part of the project needs to be completed.
Students will first be introduced to what makes a biography and what needs to be included.
They will have an organizer that they will use to pre-write a biography about themselves.
They will have to learn how to organize their writing, so they it has fluency and structure.
The paragraphs will be structured as followed:
Introduction, Early Years (Birthplace, Family Information, Education, Interest, Facts), Later Years (Death, Facts, Hobbies), Accomplishments, Conclusion, and a Bibliography.
After conferencing with a peer and the teacher, they will then each pick a person that they would like to research.
They will learn how to research properly, what websites are reliable, how to paraphrase and how to cite properly.
This project is an independent study, but with guideline instructions for students. Each student will be working at different pace each day.
Students will need to have access to technology for researching, typing, and creating their slideshow.
Students will present their slideshow to their peers during class over 3 days.
Students will dress like their person and stand in front of the display board during the Living Wax Museum night for parents and community members to come and see their hard work.
