Osmo learning system - letter tiles

1. Teacher will review letter names using cards
2. Students/teachers will log onto the Osmo learning system on the ipad
3. Osmo will ask them to find letters, name them and match words on the screeen.
4. Students will explore and manipulate the colored letters to answer the task
5. Osmos will help them determine if they need to make a change or if it is correct.
6. When time is up, teacher will discuss what they learned, something they discovered or anything they want to share from the activity.

For students that have mastered matching letters, Osmo will be set to have them sound out words making them more independent in sounding out words.

Explore with math and numbers, starting with counting and matching and moving into adding/subtracting
I have seen the Osmos kits used in action. The students love the interaction and manipulation of the tiles. Osmos will help guide them through so teachers can work with other students. Teachers can monitor and see where errors are occuring to help guide their instruction and offer extra support in the areas.
Cross-Curriculum Ideas
The kit also includes number tiles identifying numbers, counting and even adding and subtracting can also be used.
After working with the Osmo kit, students will then be able to move to a writing center and use the skills learned to create words on their own. They can move from letters to words and eventually work to writing sentenses.
