XYZPrinting da Vinci 2.0 DUO Two-Color 3D Classroom Printer
Single Unit Why I need this:
Without a Tech Ed class, our students are not receiving all of the opportunities possible. A large portion of our county lives in poverty and/or come from blue collar homes. Our students need to know that blue collar jobs are an excellent way to provide for a family, but they also need to aware that today’s blue collar jobs are also technologically advanced. Coding, graphic design, and 3-D printing are now used in many blue collar jobs. For the first year, 8th grade students enrolled in my class will use the STEM-IT curriculum that is bundled with a 3-D printer. The curriculum includes coding, and working 3-D printer software and websites to learn the basics. The goal is for at least 50% of the 8th graders to produce and print out a complete object of their own design. Students will then research for possible careers that will use their new found interests/talents. The next year, curriculum will be modified to address the specific interests of students. Other staff members will be trained by me to use the printer and then encourage students to create, design, and perhaps sell an original product. The major objective the purchasing this 3-D printer and curriculum is to inform and our students for their future. After completing the curriculum, original printed object, and profession research, students will have better understanding of possible careers they may be interested in that involve coding and/or 3-D printing.
