Class Description:
JROTC instructor at WA Hough High School. Our mission statement is "To motivate young people to become better citizens." Our curriculum covers leadership, social studies, history, financial readiness, physical fitness and so much more. Its so fun to teach. I definitely feel the satisfaction of making an impact in these children's lives.

My Philosophy:
I take my philosophy from America's greatest wrestler and coach Dan Gable. I've applied this philosophy to my time in charge of troops in the Army to my time in the classroom. Mr Gable lost one wrestling match in his career, was a 3 time NCAA Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist. Later he coached the Iowa Hawkeyes to something like 18 Team Div 1 Championships, Team USA to a Gold Medal and multiple individual wrestlers to Gold Medals. Dan Gable says, "Its a much greater honor to coach someone to greatness than it is to be great." I truly get a thrill in the achievements of the young men and women that I have been fortunate enough to work with in the military, in college ROTC at Santa Clara University and now in High School. Additionally, everything I do is founded in the ideals that my Alma Mater, USMA at West Point, NY taught me, "Duty, Honor, Country."

Interests:
Assisting in the development of tomorrow's leaders who will lead our Country back to greatness. We are in the midst of the next "Greatest Generation," I truly believe in this and am so very proud of my own children and the young men and women of today.

Why Do I Teach?:
I am a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel. Former Apache Pilot and Ranger. I teach now because it is another way in which I can serve my country. I teach because there is such a need for passionate teachers. I wish that most Americans had to serve in the military and in the classrooms. We would have less wars and a much more profound understanding of how under appreciated these teachers are. Until you have done either job, its almost impossible to understand them fully. We need more people looking to provide positive solutions and support and need less critics. We are, as Teddy Roosevelt described, "The men/women in the arena..its not the critic that counts, its the man in the arena"...God bless you all that are teachers. I am a huge fan of each and every one of you.
