Class Information:
Room Number: 204
Students per Class: 91 total students
Class Description:
I teach British Literature to a class of brilliant, ambitious kids who inspire me everyday with their energy, intellect and determination. They face adversity everyday at home, at school and in the streets- and still they stay focused on their educational goals.
Position:
Teacher
Needs:
We need technology and books. We are a high poverty school and lack the funds to purchase new textbooks, let alone novels. We don't have a computer or overhead projector in the classroom- our technology amounts to dry erase markers, a whiteboard, and a stereo. While we've worked with much less than more fortunate schools, and managed to do alright, I want my kids to have the resources they need to really maximize and enrich their learning.
My Philosophy:
Teaching should never be confined to a classroom or limited to the teacher, nor should knowledge ever be withheld from anyone. I learn alongside my students and we all are empowered to take control of our education and seek the knowledge that is key to our success. We have real world discussions daily and keep an open mind at all times to maximize our learning.
Personal Information:
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because it's the greatest job in the world and my students are the most amazing people I've ever met. They inspire me daily and I can't think of another career I'd enjoy more.
