My Philosophy:
Our world, as we perceive it, is language based. To be successful in business as well as in personal life one needs to have a good grasp on written, spoken, mathematical, and technological language. What happens inside the classroom, or in a tutoring situation, should be language centered education using materials, methods, and strategies that help each individual child feel and be successful. All children have a capacity to succeed, and in an environment that encourages analyzing, explaination, conjecture, innovativeness, and self advocacy all children should feel that way about themselves. From my past 32 years of experience as a teacher of the Deaf, I have come to know that language is the key to opening the future. If a child can read, write, think, and converse with a well developed language base then success is within their grasp. The job of the teacher is to help each child rise above and beyond what is thought possible through correctly informed and creatively presented lessons coupled with teaching strategies for life, all the while usingnappropriatemeans for data collection.
