Class Information:
Room Number: Lab 31
Students per Class: 340
Class Description:
I teach in a lab of 32 donated Dell computers. I see all of the 5th and 6th grade students in my school for a 6 week course that I will teach MS Word, PowerPoint and internet skills. I also have 4/5 of my 7th graders that I will have for a quarter of the year. The 8th graders are with me for a semester and we will spend time with MS Office and I would like to get into digital photography. I also have students who put together the school newspaper. This is my journalism class.
Position:
Computer Teacher
Needs:
It would be wonderful to have digital cameras for the school newspaper production and to teach digital photography to the 7th and 8th grade students. Other teachers would also benefit from the cameras. My ASB and Yearbook classes would love to have access to cameras!
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
I have a BA in Elementary Education and English from Whitworth College. I also received a MA in Educational Technology from City University.
Favorite Books:
Being an English major I have several! One of my favorites is The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
Interests:
I enjoy digital photography, camping, hikin, biking, and sports.
Employment History:
I have taught since 1990 in a rural school located just north of Vancouver, Washington. Most of those years I was a 7th grade teacher, but I just took the position as a computer teacher.
Why Do I Teach?:
I enjoy seeing kids learn. I encourage them to be individuals, share their knowledge, and help others be successful.
