My students feel angry, ashamed, and frustrated when I first encounter them. My goal is to have them realize it's not too late to become successful readers and students. They become optimistic and successful.

Students are not lazy or just don't want to learn. They just don't know how to get from where they are to where they want to be. Teachers are guides.
