Personal Information:
About Me:
I am in mysixth year of teaching. I have taught grades 1-4 within my six years. I am now in a position as a math intervention teacher within my school building.
College and Degrees:
I graduated from Splading University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. From there, I pursued my Masters degree from Indiana University Southeast and just finished this degree. I am currently pursuing my National Boards.
Favorite Books:
I love to read children's books to my daughter. Our favorite author is Eric Carle. My favorite professional books are by Debbie Miller, Patricia Cunningham, John Van de Walle, and Robert Wright.
Interests:
I spend my time with my husband and my three year old daughter. I love doing anything outdoors.
Employment History:
I started working in high school for the YMCA childcare in my local community. I had a passion for working with children and knew in fourth grade that I was going to become a teacher. When I graduated, I got my first teaching position at Roby Elementary in Bullitt county as a second grade teacher. After two years I moved to a brand new school in the county and am currently in my fourth year working there.
Why Do I Teach?:
I teach because I have a passion for working with children and showing them what they can do. I enjoy seeing children become readers, writiers, and mathematicians. The look on the face of a child that has just solved a problem on their own or read a complete book themselves makes my job a wonderful experience.
