Class Description:
I teach Art at two schools, both in the Austin Independent School District. I teach 21 classes, PK-5, over a three day rotation: 7 classes/day. One of the rooms is just for Art , the other is in a portable classroom building and is shared with PE, Music and After-School programs.

Needs:
I cannot tell you how helpful it would be for me to have my own digital camera for use in Art Classes at school, and on museum field trips. The school-owned camera is often unavailable as it is shared by many teachers.
My Philosophy:
First-hand primary experiences of many media, and as many Art museum field trips as I can manage! Successful art experiences upon which students can build a positive self-image, a "can-do" attitude towards new activities. Hugely important as well to bring students in contact with various world cultures, present and past, through variety of art projects and background material, and through bringing guests into the art room. (Navajo spinner/weaver; Mexican ceramic artist; Japanese teacher of calligraphy and origami; etc.)

Mother of two wonderful, now-grown children; ceramic artist; patriotic "peacenik". Teacher since 1981.

BFA Dayton Art Institute (Ohio) Teacher Training, Waldorf Institute of Mercy College of Detroit M.Ed. University of Texas, Austin
Activities:
Correspondence with death-row inmates. Sunday school teaching. Swimming,water aerobics. Recorderplaying, singing.

The Singing Tree, and others by Kate Seredy Walking in this World and The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron. Biographies,in general

Interests:
