Class Information:
Room Number: 201
Students per Class: 15-26
Class Description:
I teach a variety of art classes in this rural district. The classes include: Art I, Art II, Art Appreciation, Advanced Art, AP Studio. To supplement the curriculum I take the students on several field trips each year to nearby cultural institutions. I also sponsor our new National Art Honor Society. Our curriculum is designed to inspire the non-art student and as college preparation for the student who wishes to study art further.
Art Teacher
I would love a digital camera, to start.
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
I attended Bucks County Community College, transferred to Tyler School of Art at Temple University for a dual BFA degree in Painting and Printmaking. I received a Post-Bac Certificate in Art Education from Kutztown University.
I love to spend time with family and friends. I love to read. I also enjoy working in my studio - I love to silkscreen, and I am slowly incorporating technology into the process.
Favorite Books:
Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell lots of lighthearted mysteries anythingby David Sedaris & whatever the school's book club recommends
Favorite Quotes:
"...The artist begins with a vision - a creative operation requiring an effort. Creativity takes courage." HENRI MATISSE
Employment History:
A wide-variety of menial to complex jobs have provided me with really interesting experiences. I am glad to be in one place, for what I hope is a long time.
Why Do I Teach?:
Making art and teaching students are altogether separate ideas - yet as an artist and as a teacher they seem completely connected. One responds to the other. One is public and one is private. One is quiet and one is active. Both stretch the mind in uniquely different and somehow similar ways. Both are fed through inspiration and hard work. It is the artist's curiosity that encourages the teacher to continue to learn and grow - without that little is possible. I will be a teacher during my adult life, but art has, is, and will be a part of my entire life.
