Class Information:
Room Number: 509
Students per Class: 19
Class Description:
I deliver direct services for 8 students in fourth grade. I support 14 students and also deliver accommodations to 6 students for another special education teacher. We have a very busy room. And, it's extremely small. Whe 8 direct students are in class, I am not able to walk about or sit during a lesson.
Position:
Special Educator
Needs:
projector, more space
My Philosophy:
Start where a child is and teach from there. You can't teach a child something that they haven't the background mastery. I also believe in getting the kids involved in the lesson.
Personal Information:
College and Degrees:
Eastern Illinois University - 1978 - BS in Ed. Eastern Illinois University - 1987 - MS in Ed.
Activities:
Been doing the spelling bee since 1998. Photographevents at my grade level.
Why Do I Teach?:
I certainly don't teach to do all the paperwork and testing, and to attend all the meetings that they require of special educators. I teach because of the kids. They make my career choice a great one. This is my 31st year in special education, and I still love my work with the children.
