Introduction: Talk about the qualifications of an insect (three body parts, six legs, exoskeleton). Using a projector, show students several examples of different types of insects (ants, beetles, flies, roaches, etc.) Tell students that they are going to explore some real life insects.

Lead students outside to collect photos of different insects that they discover. Have students download the photos and work together in groups to classify the type of insects that they are. Students can organize their results in a power point presentation. Groups will share their results with the class in a power point presentation.
