1.Introduce the idea of helping in your community.

Where can you help? How can you help? Who can you help?

2. Read the story Helping Out by: George Ancona (or a similar story that shows children helping in the community.)

3. Have students model simialr helpful behaviors in and around the school building, taking each child's picture as they model.

4. After printing the photos, have students write declarative sentences about ways that they helped out around the building. Paste the corresponind photo to their written work.

5. Bind your classroom book and share it!
